Curriculum

CP Model
The Career-Related Programme is the fourth program offered by the International Baccalaureate organization.  It combines the academically rigorous curriculum of the Diploma Programme with career pathways, allowing students to focus on an area of interest and challenge themselves with one of the most widely recognized college-preparatory programs in the world.

At the center of the model to the left is the student and the IB Learner Profile.  The next ring is the philosophy through which the program is taught, focusing on specific skills students need and approaches teachers use to deliver dynamic content to students.  The third ring is the core, a group of courses that extend beyond the classroom and help to develop the whole student (You can learn more about the core by clicking on the links to the left.).  The fourth ring is the balance of career-related studies and the Diploma Programme courses.  LVA will offer two pathways for the career-related studies:  Project Lead the Way Biomedical and Project Lead the Way Engineering.  Students in the CP will also be required to take Diploma Programme courses.  Please see the curriculum model below for more information.  The last ring focuses on international-mindedness.  Through their studies in the CP and DP, students at LVA develop an appreciation and understanding for their local, national, and global society.  The focus on international-mindedness allows students to compete in a global market and be successful in their careers and their lives.

Curriculum

Students in the CP at LVA may choose from two pathways.  Please see the chart below for the course sequencing.  To learn more about the specific courses, you can click on that course or use the links to the left to navigate to specific pages related to the CP curriculum.

Please note that it is highly recommended students choose HL DP courses if they plan on pursuing college credit.  As always, please check with the college to see what courses they accept for credit and the minimum score.
