Dear Lehigh Valley Academy (LVA) Parents and Guardians:

After a busy summer we are looking forward to the start of the school year.

First Day of School
Monday, August 31 will be the first day of school for all students.

This means that our 100% Online students will start their classes online on Monday.

Students in Hybrid A and C will come to school on Monday and Tuesday and will learn online from home on Wednesday through Friday.

Students in Hybrid B and D will start with their online learning on Monday through Wednesday and will come to school for the first time on Thursday, September 3.

If you are unsure which hybrid section your child is enrolled in, please login to Jupiter and look for the menu icon with 4 lines in the top left corner. Click the menu and scroll down. At the bottom of the menu select ”setting”. Look at the bottom of that page for the word “hybrid”. The section will be noted there.

Accessing Online Learning
Each student has been assigned a Google Account. The login information can also be found on the settings page in Jupiter. (see paragraph above for instructions to access this page)

The teachers in K-6 who teach 100% online, Hybrid B or Hybrid C will be emailing the Zoom link for Monday to the parents. In grades 7 through 12 the link will be emailed to the student’s email account.

Safety Measures
The health and safety of the students and staff is very important to us. We have put a number of safety measures in place that include cleaning and sanitizing, as well as everyone wearing masks and social distancing.

We ask that you please run through the COVID19 Symptom checklist for each of your children on the days that they are attending school in the building. PLEASE keep your child home, if he or she is sick. In order for LVA to avoid having to move to a full online program, we need everyone to do their part.

Breakfast and Lunch
Students will be eating breakfast and lunch in their classrooms. Lehigh Valley Academy (LVA) will make breakfast and lunch available each day. It will be delivered to the K-3 classrooms and students in grades 4-12 will go to the cafeteria to pick up their lunch.

This year you will not have to order in advance. Your child may ask for a breakfast or lunch on any day that he or she wishes to or that you do not pack a lunch.

Meal Costs: Breakfast K-12: $2.00 each, Lunch K-8: $3.25 each, Lunch 9-12: $3.50 each

Parents will be able to put money on their children's accounts through School Cafe.

LVA participates in the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program for families that qualify.

LVA will also be offering breakfast and lunch for students learning online. Pick up will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays starting September 8. More details will be provided soon.

Dress Code
The dress code is required for students on days that they are in the building. Students learning online do not need to follow the dress code, however, they must be dressed appropriately.

Masks are required in the building. Please make sure your child has an extra mask in his/her backpack in case his/her mask gets soiled or damaged.

The LVA faculty and staff have been working very hard over the past several weeks to make sure that we are ready for Monday. We can’t wait to get the school year started.

At our core, we are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. We will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of best learning practices and innovative teaching strategies through the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), Career-related (CP), and Diploma (DP) Programmes. Lehigh Valley Academy is committed to developing students into critical thinkers who are creative, open-minded and ready to embrace the challenges of a world-wide, diverse society. We believe that all students can learn in a safe, caring, nurturing and student-centered environment. I would like to invite all of our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. As a child’s first teacher, parents have a major influence on a child’s success.

Here’s to a MAGNIFICENT school year, as we work together to make Lehigh Valley Academy a great place to learn and work each day!
