An education going beyond
academics – it’s interactive and interdisciplinary – it’s a
process
Lehigh Valley Academy uses the I.B.
method as its educational basis.
It is: |
 |
 |
A thematic approach to teaching and learning. |
 |
An open-ended style of learning offering student’s individual
advancement through project-based assessment. |
 |
A flexible Programme encouraging students to go above
and beyond with projects and application, not repetition. |
|
 |
An example of the I.B. way |
 |
 |
Interactive - Multiplication
is reinforced through: teaching, book reinforcement, self-investigation–creating
their own word problems and other functional problems,
day-to-day classroom application through hands-on projects
and activities, etc. |
 |
Interdisciplinary - The next
step in I.B. learning. I.B. takes
not only the concepts of math the student learns, but
cross-teaches the subject with one or more other subjects
through a theme-based project. Projects can include research,
a building project, reports, etc. There is no limit to
the imagination. |
|
Lehigh Valley Academy currently offers two levels of I.B.– |
| |
The final phase of education is a high-school level baccalaureate
diploma Programme. The final two years of the programme includes
a final exam encompassing differing components of all of a student’s
learning with a goal of creating a while child through: academics,
philosophy, physical, fine arts, and community service.
The I.B. education also includes project-based
assessment at all levels. This allows creativity and opportunity.
A student can move forward as they desire through self-motivation
and independence. If a child is academically strong they are
motivated to develop the self-skills to go above and beyond
the lesson to the next level.
